It's "that" Time of Month

 Grad Week Update

Well, I survived the first party.  Tonight is at someone's farm - they can have them for a while now! LOL!

It's not that their irresponsible kids or dis-respectful or anything like that - I love each and every one of them..... Everything was in our garage where there's all kinds of things to get into: tools, wood, shoes, our sporting equipment, camping stuff etc..... but they didn't bother anything.  We had set up a table in the middle and they played drinking games with a deck of cards..... there was loud music and a few tipsy kids and we even had the cops pay us a visit at midnight.  But all in all, they did what they had to do and everyone is hungover today and no one drove home.

I don't drink alcohol, never have and really have no interest in it.  A glass of wine once in a while never killed me, but I could care less if I never have any again.  Kids nowadays just can't do anything together unless their drunk, or at least half-drunk.  Of the 25 or so kids that were there, only one chose not to drink.   The rest drank, some more than others, but every one of them knew not to drive or wonder off.  I believe in the "controlled drinking" environment...... I don't encourage the drinking, but I know they're going to do it somewhere - so knowing their under the watchful eye of responsible adults makes me feel a little better.

Four of them stayed at our house last night - and watching them roll out of their beds this morning was just halarious.  How can they think this is fun? I don't get it.  The headaches, the nausea, the morning-after jitters....is it really worth it?  Man they didn't look good today.

And tonight they'll do it all over again!!

My daughter is going out tonight, but she's staying home tomorrow night she says.  Then they have another one Thursday night - then Friday night will be busy with decorations and getting ready for relatives and friends......  Saturday is the big day and man will I be glad when Sunday comes!!

Graduation in a small town is actually quite fun.  Everyone knows who's kids are graduating, who their parents are, who the grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles etc....  I have people asking me all the time "so are you ready for grad?"  I just laugh - I have nothing to wear yet, I haven't planned my grocery list, I still have half a house to clean up, and I could work 18 hour days at work if I didn't have this grad.  Am I ready? Will I ever be ready?  It's kinda like Christmas - it's gonna come whether I'm ready or not.

I was going to take tomorrow off, but we're so busy here, I can't possibly stay home.  It's been a real balancing act of trying to set my priorities this week - which is most important right now? And to be honest, both work and home are demanding my full attention ........

As for the conference I'm planning - I haven't been able to do a thing for it today.  I've been side-tracked, distracted and have lost the focus I had yesterday.  Could be the 3 or 4 hours of sleep I missed out on last night.  I'm hoping to get some work done tonight at home.  I also have to do that payroll.......which I just thought of.

No point to my post today.  The party was fine - not too out of control, but noisy enough to attract the cops. Which was good cuz then they all went home aftre that.

Monday's down, 4 more days to go............

a few things on my mind...

There is only one thing worse than PMS'ing - and that's being around someone that's PMS'ing and you're not.  I work with someone that's being a real biotch today and although I understand perfectly just how PMS riddles your mind....I still want to slap the crap out of her today cuz she's being such a bag.

My daughter is showing signs of PMS this week too - but I know it's not her time.  She's a little stressed and has a few things on her mind - and I guess, like me, she just tends to get grumpy and snap at people when she's stressed.  Now, add that to PMS and you've got a real fire-cracker on your hands!

This week is "grad week" where I come from.  I live in a very small town and there are 13 graduates in our high school.  One of them is my daughter.  She will be graduating from High School this coming Saturday.

There are alot of traditions with this graduation - one being the 'grad week' facade.  They all THINK its grad week and time to party and to be up till all hours in the morning and spend the whole week sluffing off at school.  I think we the parents have another think coming to them.  Tonight is the kick-off party and guess who's hosting it?

Yep - it's at my house.  They're taking over our garage and there will be no more than 30 kids there. At least I hope there won't.  With just 13 kids in the class, we did agree that they could invite the escorts as well.  So that's 26 kids - plus I'm sure a few extra brothers or sisters that will want to join the festivities.

We plan to kick them out by 12:30 - hopefully they'll get bored before then though!

Aside from the graduation plans this week, I have to plan a meal for Saturday for about 40 people.  I'm working all week - although I'm going to sneak away for Thursday and Friday so I can clean my house and get things presentable at home.  At work, I'm planning, organizing and hosting a conference that will be held in Vancouver BC next week.  So with everything weighing in on me for the grad stuff, I also have to plan a presentation, my emcee duties, make the name tags, book the hotel rooms, plan the meals, get the power point presenations on a disc.....and on and on and on..... I've gotten alot of this stuff done already, but there is still a bunch of last minute stuff to take care of.  It's been like planning 2 weddings, a week apart!!

Last weekend I tried to clean the house - wash walls, clean the curtains, move furniture around etc..... What a gong show that was!! I got about half done and quit.  No one would leave me alone - I had two kids a couple friends and a husband - all at my feet all day long - and I felt like I wasn't getting anywhere.  I would hand them a cloth to clean something - but I always have to go behind them and do it better.  Call me anal - but I hate half-assed jobs ...... especially when it comes to cleaning!!

So, I'll be spending every evening this week finishing up those spring cleaning duties.

I have to do payroll on Wednesday for my husbands business.

I have the menu figured out for the meal on Saturday, but still have to make the grocery list and then go buy it all.

I don't have anything to wear to grad - so I have to take an afternoon to go buy a dress or something.  My son needs a haircut. My oldest daughter is coming home with her dog for grad and I think she's leaving him with me - I need to find him a good home!  My husband doesn't know this yet and he's going to FLIP out when he hears it!!!

My flight is booked for next week, but not the hotel room yet  -

What the heck am I doing writing in my blog........ I have some things to get done...........

 Ladies......

So I'm lying in bed this morning wondering what I could post about and got to thinking about the topic of 'that time of the month' and I wondered what everyone else called it?

I've heard some people say Aunt Flo dropped in.

I've heard it called hormonin', as my sister calls it!

I quite often say she's "on the rag".

And of course my mother's old standby: "she's got her period" which is just way too direct and embarrassing for me!!

And the one I really hate is "menstrating".  Like saying Bowel Movement instead of poop!!  It is what it is: poop!!

I wonder how many other expressions are out there that I could use exclusively for this blog??
